Perhaps the best value-for-money sushi in Prague. While Tam Da's worn-down facade, simple interior and lack of fashionably-dressed wait staff make it a very unassuming -- and even off-putting to some -- place. But don't be bothered with the aesthetics. Tam Da offers fresh, well-made sushi at great prices. All of the standards -- nigiri, maki, California -- are on the quite lengthy menu. The fish is fresh and satisfying -- not world-class quality (but where in Prague would you find world-class sushi?), but reliable and consistent food. The rice is consistent and the sushi is well-rolled; rarely will you end up with a loose piece -- but even if you do, take comfort in the fact that you've found one of the best values in town.
The menu contains many 4-6 piece selections which allow you to create your own 10-20 piece combinations. If you're craving quantity rather than top-notch quality, at CZK 10 - 20 per piece, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better place in Prague to curb your sushi craving.
As good as the sushi is, the Asian dishes are disappointing. The noodle dishes can be quite soggy. Our advice: stick to the sushi.
A reservation isn't needed, but because of the small dining area and Tam Da's quiet popularity, you may find yourself waiting if you don't have one.
If you're not happy with Tam Da's interior dining, takeaway is available, and is usually prompt - 15 to 20 minutes. Call-in orders are accepted, too -- just be sure you have the menu numbers at hand (they're on the Tam Da website), as the menu's size can make ordering by phone complicated.
Our Rating (5 = excellent, 1 = poor):
Food: 3.5 (sushi); 1.0 (Asian)
Accepted: cash only.
