Visitors to Dilli Delhi, one of the newest Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the Vinohrady / Žižkov area, won't be impressed with the restaurant's decor or service, but the food may make it worthwhile. The small interior is sparse and lacks warmth and style, but continuous small improvments are adding some character. While not stylish or trendy, the focus is on the food. The menu contains several dishes not found in other local Indian / Pakistani restaurants, in case your taste buds are in search of something unique.
A quick and low-priced (CZK 69 - 89) set-lunch menu comes with an entrée, main course, vegetable side and drink. the quality of the special can be hit-or-miss; some portions may not be served hot. The à la carte selections are a better option. Most dishes are quite flavourful and are mild, not spicy-hot. The prawns tend to be average in size and taste. The lamb is usually good -- the large Boti Kebab is served on a hot skillet and comes with an ample amount of lamb, as well as red and yellow peppers, onions and tomatoes. The curry dishes are more youghurt-based and mild, but very good. Nan bread is often served fresh out of the oven. The selection of starters is standard, but nothing is outstanding -- we recommend you concentrate on the main courses. Shisha is also offered, but the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant may limit the overall eating/smoking/socialising experience. Service can be hit or miss, even during slow times. Delivery to nearby Vinohrady and Žižkov neighbourhoods is free.
Recommended: Boti kebab; shrimp curry.
