Brasserie La Gare a Boutiques Gourmandes

V Celnici 3, Prague 1 | +420 222 313 712 | Map | Website

With a bright and open interior, high ceilings and large windows, La Gare's menu consists mainly of cuisine from northern France, including a good selection of shellfish, beef and chicken. The menu also includes a handful of salads, omelettes and quiches. Meals are well-prepared and well-presented. Mussels are served in-season. Service can sometimes be understaffed, given the size of the restaurant. La Gare is busy most evenings and has a lively but casual atmosphere. The wine list includes French, Czech and New World choices in all price ranges.
Stella Artois is served on draught. There is also a La Gare bakery and delicatesen (open 8:00 to 22:00) next to the restaurant, which has a good selection of wines.

Recommended: Beef bourguignon; andouillette; Omelette au Munster.

  1. Dinner was good -- celebrating the Beaujolais Nouveau. The place was full; service was good. There was one small mix-up on one of the set menu selections, but the manager quickly replaced it with the correct item. The Château de Buffevent was good -- definitely a good Beaujolais Nouveau to enjoy over the next month (with turkey, pork, lamb). The lamb Navarin was excellent. It isn't part of the regular menu, but keep your eye out for it as an ocassional daily special.
