Good French brasserie food served in a very pleasant and laid-back atmosphere. The walls are adorned with posters of classic French advertising and there is usually a good buzz in the air -- a mix of professionals, families and couples filling the place on any given day or night -- the sort of place that welcomes everyone. With wide open spaces in both the bar / cafe area and the main dining room, you're bound to hear conversations in many languages. The service is reasonable, and quite friendly, but don't expect waiters to fly around the place; this is a place that lends itself to longer than normal meals -- the French way. The salads are large and satisfying. The meat is served in modest portions, but well-prepared. Sampling something from the modest but good wine list is a must. However, draft beer is also served. If you're looking for a late night, after-theatre meal, Czech Marcel is open until one in the morning.
Recommended: salad Méli-Mélo; Spaghetti Carbonara; grilled pepper steak with French Fries; crème brûlée; tart with wild berries.
